You know in Harry Potter 3 when the red double decker bus picks up Harry and the skrunken head says “It’s going to be a bumpy ride” ? Well this bus was a fucking bumpy ride. In all honestly the seats were more comfortable than the Megabus, the air was cool from the full 24 hours of rainfall, and at times staring out the window was quite meditative. Although after the second stop around 11:30pm I had to wedge my legs and arms to keep myself on the seat. I’m assuming it was rocks and debris from the rain, but the bumps could make a person suicidal. Come 4am, maybe 30 minutes of drifted sleep and we stop again in the middle of a closed down market. Our bathroom was the great outdoors Too much? Just takes me back to good ole days of Mizzou tailgating when everyone found not so hidden spots around Frat Pit and Reactor to relieve the cheap beer and Skol vodka rockstars although this is slightly a different situation.
But after 15 hours we made it! It’s beautiful here, the air is clear and wifi is free everywhere!! Plus within the first hour we ran into the only person we know here, Tamara who teaches English to Tibetan refugees on her own dime (she was in the beginner yoga program). The shopping is amazing, the coffee even better, and the people are so wonderfully nice. I now understand why people never leave here. We’re going to the theater to see the new Batman movie at 6 and going to bounce from cafe to cafe all day long.
So in love already!
