The next day we drove back to LA, timing it perfectly with rush hour traffic. All part of the LA experience I suppose. Our first and only hike of the trip was to the infamous Hollywood sign, where we soaked in the smog-covered city and all its views.

Then off to Dallas to celebrate the love between two of my very beautiful friends. They even let me read a marriage blessing in the ceremony.#Dreissapalooza

Time to meet my Mama in NoLa. A city unlike any other in the US, that stole my heart within the first hour. We danced in the streets, on balconies, in bars and always had a drink in our hand. We even took a boat ride down by the bayou and made mates with some gators.
On our last night, we had some photography fun when Bourbon Street was full swing into Friday night.

And one of the best things about NoLa, they have a vegan cafe that serves fresh, warm beignets. I'll be dreaming of that sweet powered dough forever.

Our final stop was sweet home Chicago. I took Ryan to the tourist spots and his first ever American baseball game, we caught up with friends, and relaxed with family.

I wished for more weeks and it was hard as ever to say g'bye. But the photo below makes it a bit better. Snapped by my best friend on her daughter's 4th birthday when her son happened to use Ryan as a spit-up cloth.
We wrapped up the trip with a 11 hour layover in LA and spent the day at Venice Beach. It was actually the only day of the trip, we actually relaxed, but I regret nothing. Especially this last California sunset.

After such a big trip, it's time to stay within our new country's borders. We are in the process of buying a campervan to take our New Zealand trips to the next level. And we cannot wait to start sharing our adventures. Let the roadtrips begin!
